Idol (philosophy)
Several philosophers have developed concepts that they have called idols, including:
- Aristotle the idols in the water, reflections or shadows.
- Plato, shades or apparitions or copies
- Francis Bacon (philosopher), various obstacles humans face when trying to truly understand nature
- Friedrich Nietzsche in Twilight of the Idols, abstract unchanging philosophical concepts that need to be swept away to allow for true life to emerge.
